Title of book: Stallion in Spooky Hollow

Author: Ben M. Baglio

Type of book:  ( mystery)

Setting: Spooky Hollow is a scary forest

Main Characters: Mandy, Dr. Emily and Dr. Adam (Mandy’s parents), Paige and Fabian (Paige’s horse)

The main characters problem: Mandy and Pala (Mandy’s patient who is a dog) walk through Spooky Hollow and find a horse that they think is a ghost. The  horse is white like a  ghost. They find out that  it’s Paige’s horse Fabian and that he is not the spooky ghost that everybody has been talking about.

Why someone else should read this book: This book is a good mystery and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat!

Author:Thomas Conklin 

Type of book:  (action, scary, mystery) Action 

Setting:On a ship in the ocean. 

Main Characters:Jack and Rose 

The main characters problem: The ship hit an iceberg and it began to sink. 

Why someone else should read this book: You can learn from it because it tells you about what really happen when the Titanic sank.

Title of book:  Absolutely Luck

Author:  Ilene Cooper 

Type of book:  (action, scary, mystery) mystery 

Setting:  It takes place in his house and around his neighborhood. 

Main Characters:  Bobby Quinn, His Mom, and Lucky (his puppy) 

The main characters problem:  Bobby Quinn is shy. In fact, he’s so shy, he has trouble making friends. But that changes when he gets a puppy for his birthday. Luck isn’t shy at all. She keeps him into all different adventures and friendships, too!! 

Why someone else should read this book:  It is very good and mysterious.  It might help people that are shy like Bobby.

Title of book: Happy Birthday Samantha!    

Author:  Valerie Tripp 

Type of book:  sweat 

Setting:  At Samantha’s House in Mount Bedford, NY and in New York City. 

Main Characters:  The first main character is Samantha Parkington, a girl who is celebrating her 10th birthday.   Other main characters are Samantha’s friends and her Aunt’s sisters, Agnes and Agatha who are 10 year old twins.  Other main characters in the story are Samantha’s Grandmother who she calls “Grand Mary” and her Aunt Cornelia who is married to her favorite uncle in the world, Uncle Gardner (Gard). 

The main characters problem:  The book starts off with a celebration of Samantha’s birthday.  When the twins and Samantha and Eddie (a boy who lives next door) helped to make ice cream, Eddie put salt into the ice cream which ruined it.   

Why someone else should read this book:  Someone else should read this book because girls in 1904 when

Title of book:  The Kid in the Red Jacket    

Author:  Barbara Park 

Type of book:  This book is a funny drama. 

Setting:  Rosemont (a small town in Massachusetts)  

Main Characters:  Howard, Molly, Pete, Ollie 

The main characters problem:  Ten year old Howard Jeeter’s family has just moved to Rosemont and he has no friends.  He has to go to a new school and his six year old neighbor, Molly, won’t leave him alone. 

Why someone else should read this book:  The main character, Howard, is funny and you’ll want to keep reading to see if Howard ever makes any new friends in his new town.

Author: Clyde Robert Bulla

Setting: The year is 1609. The journey begins from London to America.

Main Characters: Amanda, Jemmy, Meg, Mother, Father( James Freebold) Cook, Mistress Trippett,

The main characters problem: Amanda leads her and Jemmy and Meg to find her father in America. Amanda's mom has died. It's all up to Amanda to get them to Virginia. She has hope, and the lions head for good luck that dad gave her when he set sail for America for a better life for his family.

Why someone else should read this book: This is a good mystery. It tells how people lived , and struggled a long time ago to get to America.
