2008-09 Budget Process

The Greater Amsterdam School District Board of Education has begun the 2008-09 budget process.

The goal of this process is to develop a fiscally responsible plan that:

  • Supports educational initiatives to improve student performance from kindergarten through 12th grade.

  • Provides the means for students and staff to meet federal and state educational mandates while also bearing mind the community’s ability to pay.

  • Provides the necessary services, supplies and materials within the monitory limit of a 4% increase.

  • Provides a safe and secure environment that promotes learning for all students.

From now until May, the Board of Education will meet twice each month. All meetings begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Central Administration Building at 11 Liberty Street. (To view the board’s entire 2007-08 meeting schedule, click here.)

The budget meeting schedule is as follows:

  • May 7 – public hearing

  • May 20 – budget vote, BOE elections
