of Thunder Cake:
The book Thunder Cake is about a Grandmother who senses that a storm is coming and notices her granddaughter is hiding under the bed. The Grandmother convinces her granddaughter that the storm is far away and they have enough time to gather the ingredients for a Thunder Cake before the storm arrives. The Grandmother teaches her Granddaughter to anticipate the thunder by counting to ten once she see the lightning. The Grandmother keeps her Granddaughter busy by having her gather the ingredients needed to make a Thunder Cake. The grandchild realizes that she is brave because she was able to accomplish all the tasks the Grandmother gave her even though she was a little scared at first. They finally get the cake in the oven and then enjoy the cake together as the storm passes through. |
