English 11

This class focuses on American Literature and how it reflects the development of the major philosophical movements of our history.  It is a course intended for college-bound students.  Specific instruction will also be given in expository and persuasive essay writing, critical poetry and literature analysis, speech presentation, and grammar.  The course will include the preparation of a major research paper.  Instruction will also include preparation for the NYS Comprehensive Examination in English, and rudimentary preparation for the SAT.
