 McNulty student council honors their "Principal of the Year"

The McNulty student council showed its appreciation for principal Tom McNulty with cake and balloons on May 6.

The McNulty student council was not going to let the event go by unnoticed. On Friday, May 6, they honored their principal Tom Perillo for his recognition as "Principal of the Year" by the Capital Area School Development Association. With cake and balloons, they  let Mr. Perillo know they thought the group had made the right choice.

The Greater Capital Region Principals’ Center of the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) named, one of two ‘Principals of the Year’ for 2005.

The award recognizes outstanding principals in a region of more than 140 school districts for their dedicated service to students. Since its inception in 1991, 29 area principals have received the honor.

CASDA evaluates principals nominated by their colleagues on the following criteria:

  • Setting defined goals/direction for the school

  • Improving curriculum, instruction and student achievement

  • Leading professional development

  • Using multiple sources of data in decision-making

  • Engaging the community

CASDA will also honor Kimberly Wilkins, principal of Albany Public School 16, in the Albany PublicSchool District.

The Capital Area School Development Association is a study council affiliated with the School of Education at The University at Albany, State University of New York. Chartered in 1949 by the State Education Department and affiliated with the University of the State of New York, CASDA is one of the oldest study councils in the United States.
