AHS athletic teams receive academic recognition

Six Amsterdam High School athletic teams received scholar-athlete awards for the fall 2007 sports season. The awards are given out by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, which recognizes teams that earn a combined grade point average of 90 percent or better for the quarter in which their sport is active.

Amsterdam High teams that received this recognition are:

Boys X-Country

Girls X-Country

Girls Volleyball

Girls Soccer

Boys Football

Girls Tennis

All teams that qualify are entered into the state contest for the highest accumulative average in that sport statewide.
