FMCC international students pay a visit to McNulty second- and third-graders

Second-graders learned how to use chopsticks, while third-graders learned how to sing songs in Japanese during a visit from international college students who attend Fulton Montgomery Community College.

This is the third year McNulty has invited FMCC international students to visit the school. This year's visit took place in December.

McNulty's third-graders are studying Japan as part of the school's international magnet theme, so they were visited by college students who hailed from different parts of that country. The Japanese students talked about their culture, customs, food, and daily life, and showed McNulty students how to make origami hats of newspaper and taught them how to sing familiar songs in Japanese.

Second-graders were visited by students from China, Korea, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Turkey, countries that are part of the second-grades international magnet theme. The college students talked about life in their countries and shared information about their customs and cultures, and even showed the students how to use chopsticks. Each international student also taught the second-graders how to say hello in their native language. At the end of the visit, each student was given an index card with their name written in Chinese and Korean.

This was a wonderful experience for everyone involved and we will continue to do this every year.
