Fourth-graders learn about radio and sound at WCSS

Marie Curie's fourth grade classes recently visited WCSS radio station at the Riverfront Center in Amsterdam.

Each class visited on a different day to make sure the station wouldn't be too crowded and to give students a better chance of meeting with WCSS talk show hosts Joe Alteri and Sean Piasecki.

Once at the station, students were split into two groups, one visiting with Joe Alteri at his recording studio across the hall from the radio station and the other visiting with Sean Piasecki to listen and participate on his morning talk show..

At the recording studio, students learned about sound recording and were able to make their own recordings using the radio station's equipment. During Sean Piasecki's talk show, students learned what it's like to be a talk show host on live radio.

Joe, Sean, Rebecca Persico, and Joe Isabelle were gracious hosts, making our students feel welcome and valued. We look forward to more collaborations with them in the near future.
