The Amsterdam High School varsity wrestling team stormed through the 2008 season, winning 29 matches against just three losses on the way to capturing its 15th Big Ten Conference title.

The grappling Rams won the Section II Class B championship in February, as well as team championships in the Montgomery County Duals, Schenectady Invitational Tournament and North-South Duals.

Other 2008 accomplishments include: second place at the Section II Duals, second place in the Section II Championships behind Shenendehowa, sixth place at the 63-team Eastern States Classic, and seventh place as a team in the New York State high school championships.

It was an all-around terrific season for the wrestling team, which was coached by Section II Coaches of the Year Ken Benton and George Bowman.
