Third-graders take "Journey Through
the Solar System"
McNulty Academy’s second-graders recently
took a “Journey Through the Solar System” courtesy of the
Scotia-Glenville Children’s Museum.
Second-graders had been reading "Man on
the Moon" and "Space Dreams" as part of their reading
curriculum, so “Journey Through the Solar System” tied in
with the magnet school’s literacy theme. The lesson included
a slide show and hands-on activities, providing students
with a better understanding of the planets in the solar
system and how those planets are different from each other.
The lesson was another in the Children’s
Museum long list of wonderful offerings. It enhanced the
school’s literacy program and helped students make
connections between what they were reading and why it is
important.
