AHS named All-Star High School by national organization

The following is the text of a letter the high school received from the National Anthem Project, a Virginia-based organization:

October 9, 2007

Dear Patricia Valiante,

On behalf of the National Association for Music Education (MENC) and The National Anthem Project, thank you for celebrating our national anthem and participating in a National Anthem Project event. As a result of your school's efforts and support for music education, you have been recognized as an official National Anthem Project All-Star School for the 2007-2008 school year. By joining in this campaign, the teachers and students of Amsterdam High School have truly demonstrated a commitment to music education in your community.

The National Anthem Project aims to renew national awareness of American traditions; to promote the significance and history of the anthem; and to re-teach America to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." As an All-Star School, you join Honorary Chair Mrs. Laura Bush and Official Musical Ambassadors, The Oak Ridge Boys, as well as National Presenting Sponsor Jeep and many other national organizations in supporting this effort.
