The Greater Amsterdam School District received the highest
rating possible from auditors who reviewed the district’s
financial statements for the 2006-07 fiscal year.
Gloversville-based West & Co. conducted the audit and issued
an unqualified opinion, which means the district's financial
records are free of material misstatement. Auditors had this
to say about the district’s financial records:
“In our opinion, the basic financial statements referred to
above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial
position of the Enlarged City School District of the City of
Amsterdam, as of June 30, 2007, and the respective changes in
financial position thereof for the year then ended in
conformity with U.S. generally accepted accounting
principles.”
School district Business Manager Roger Seward said auditors
determined that the district is properly recording its
finances as well as making sure that state and federal dollars
are spent on the correct programs and the appropriate
students.
“It’s nice to get an unqualified report, but we don’t rest on
those laurels,” Seward said.
