(October 25) GASD Superintendent Ronald Limoncelli will retire
at the end of the 2007-08 school year.
The Board of Education accepted Mr. Limoncelli's resignation
letter at its meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 24. His retirement
will be effective on July 1, 2008.
"It certainly has been a wonderful experience for me,
personally as well as professionally, and I look forward to
working with you for the rest of the year to make sure there
is a smooth transition from my leadership to the next," Mr.
Limoncelli told board members.
Mr. Limoncelli has spent 22 of his 38 years in education
working for the Amsterdam school district. He was hired in
1985 as the district's director of health, physical education
and sports, and was later promoted to director of staff
personnel. He was named school district superintendent in 2000
and has held that position ever since.
A graduate of Kent State University, Mr. Limoncelli also
worked for the Wells and Broadalbin-Perth school districts.
