Superintendent Limoncelli to retire in July 2008

(October 25) GASD Superintendent Ronald Limoncelli will retire at the end of the 2007-08 school year.

The Board of Education accepted Mr. Limoncelli's resignation letter at its meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 24. His retirement will be effective on July 1, 2008.

"It certainly has been a wonderful experience for me, personally as well as professionally, and I look forward to working with you for the rest of the year to make sure there is a smooth transition from my leadership to the next," Mr. Limoncelli told board members.

Mr. Limoncelli has spent 22 of his 38 years in education working for the Amsterdam school district. He was hired in 1985 as the district's director of health, physical education and sports, and was later promoted to director of staff personnel. He was named school district superintendent in 2000 and has held that position ever since.

A graduate of Kent State University, Mr. Limoncelli also worked for the Wells and Broadalbin-Perth school districts.
