Board of Education Approves McNulty Academy dress code

In its 2005-06 organizational meeting on July 6, the GASD Board of Education approved an amended dress policy for the McNulty Academy for International Studies and Literacy. The school dress policy and the McNulty amendment are:

GASD Student Dress Policy

The Superintendent of Schools and those designated by him shall set forth and enforce rules and regulations regarding proper dress or wearing apparel for students. Such rules and regulations shall be governed by the following considerations:

A. Student wearing apparel must be safe. Clothes worn in and about the school shall not be of such a nature as to endanger the safety of the student or others. This applies especially during such activities as gym, interscholastic or intramural sports, shop or home economics.

B. Student wearing apparel must not damage school property. Metal parts on shoes or clothes which are likely to mar floors or furniture are prohibited.

C. Students must not be attired in such a fashion as to unduly attract attention among the students and the staff and thereby impair the decorum and formality needed in the classroom to insure the proper atmosphere for learning and discipline. Clothes that are garish, noisy, immodest or unduly informal should be discouraged.
