Academic Intervention Services means instructional services in English Language Arts, mathematics, social studies and/or science, which supplement the instruction provided in regular classes and are congruent with New York State learning standards, and/or student support services which could include guidance, counseling, attendance and study skills which are needed to support increased academic performance.
How is a student eligible for AIS services? 1. ELA scores - Students who scored a 1 or 2 on an ELA exam 2. Terra Nova Results-*Students who scored a 23% on the reading section of the Terra Nova 3.Class average- *Students who score 65% or below on quarterly report card in reading 4. Kindergarten and First Grade Screening- Students are screened individually using the DIBELS, Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy. This screening looks at letter naming fluency, nonsense word fluency, and initial sound fluency. |
