Procedure for dealing with discipline problems on the school bus

  1. The bus drivers shall report misbehavior on school buses to the Principal using the prescribed referral forms on the date of the infraction.

  2. The Principal will discuss the problems with the student and the Transportation Department and take the appropriate disciplinary action.

  3. A letter shall be sent from the Principal's Office to the parent, that if the child's inappropriate conduct continues, the privilege of riding on the school bus would be withdrawn and it will become the parent's responsibility to transport the student to school.

  4. The privilege of riding the school bus shall not be restored until a parent-student conference has been held with the Principal or designee.

  5. The Principal may invoke immediate suspension for flagrant acts that jeopardize the health, safety and welfare of the student and/or other students.

Disruptive students

  1. Disruptive students will be reported to the school principal on the prescribed form prepared by the bus driver. The Bus Company will review all bus referrals before they are submitted to the Building Administrator, to eliminate nuisance referrals.

  2. Upon the receipt of three reports showing previous action taken, a letter will be sent to the student's home with notification of a five (5) day suspension from riding the school bus.

  3. After reinstatement, if the student continues the disruptive behavior to the point where one (1) additional written report is received by the school district, the student will be suspended for sixty (60) school days. After reinstatement from this suspension, if the student receives one (1) additional written report, the student will receive a permanent suspension from riding the school bus for the remainder of the the school year. The Building Principal will notify the parent after each incident.
