Six students from Amsterdam High School has been accepted into the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute and will be part of this year’s Capital District PR/HYLI Delegation.
The six attended the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute Jan. 11 and will join 60 other area students in the delegation. AHS representatives are Alejandro Christopher, Astrid Dimas, Divine Diplan, Natalia Quinones, Cruz Rios and Ashley Rivera. Joining the students at the institute was district ENL teacher Anne Ringuette.
As part of the Capital District delegation these students are committed to attending six Saturday training sessions from now until March to learn about leadership and the legislative process in New York State.
This program will culminate with a weekend Institute March 7-9. Students from all over New York State will convene in Albany to celebrate Latino culture, discuss bills that are especially important to Latinos, and make lasting friendships.
