Mr. Tyrone O’Meally will begin as high school principal on Dec. 27. Mr. O’Meally spent the last four years as assistant principal at the Enlarged City School District of Troy.

“I would like to thank the Amsterdam community for giving me the opportunity to serve as their high school principal,” said Mr. O’Meally. “I am looking forward to building upon the success of Amsterdam High by forging strong relationships, working hard and effectively using data to achieve our academic and social goals.”

He also served as Troy’s secondary summer school principal for four years and taught secondary social studies for nine years. During his time at Troy CSD, Mr. O’Meally was involved with student council and served as a parent and data liaison to help improve student achievement, enhance social development and strengthen ties with the community.

Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Michele Downing will return to her role after serving as the interim high school principal since December 2017.
