Members of both the Greater Amsterdam School District and Broadalbin Perth’s Board of Education have approved a proposal to allow Broadalbin-Perth students to try out for Amsterdam’s boys and girls lacrosse teams for the spring 2020 season.
The team will play under Amsterdam’s banner but will practice and play home games at both Amsterdam and Broadalbin-Perth. Following lengthy discussions between the athletic departments for nearly a year, the schools agreed to pilot the program. If the 2020 pilot season is successful, the agreement is expected to continue in future years
“We look forward to partnering with B-P,” said Dr. Raymond Colucciello, interim superintendent of schools at Amsterdam. “We hope that this partnership will provide a greater lacrosse experience to all of our students and encourage fans from both communities to come out and support the upcoming season.”
The season is slated to begin on March 9. The athletic departments are working together to support a successful season and are looking to schedule a parent information night in the new year.
