  • Dr. Nellie Bush opened the meeting at 6 p.m.
  • Public Comment:
    • Tanya Kilmartin – Daughter attends Ag PTECH. Spoke regarding continuing bus issues and the use of a transit bus.
    • Christian Rivera – Spoke regarding the need for environmental education classed.
  • The meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m. and entered into executive session. Executive session adjourned at 8:15 p.m. and re-entered regular session. On the motion of Kent McHeard the meeting adjourned at 8:16 p.m.

It is further recommended that Ms. Hungershafer’s salary will be based on M1 Step 11, of the 2018-2019 Teacher Salary Schedule, prorated. This position is funded through the General Fund.

It is further recommended that Ms. Riccio’s per diem rate will be based on M8 Step 19, of the 2018-2019 Teacher Salary Schedule to no more than three (3) days per week, prorated.   • RESOLVED: that upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Vicma Ramos, the Board of Education appoints Richard Mazzone to a three (3) year probationary appointment as a Biology Teacher in the Biology tenure area, commencing January 28, 2019 and ending January 27, 2022, contingent upon achievement of effective or highly effective APPR ratings necessary to receive tenure throughout his probationary period, consistent with the requirements of Education law Sections 2509, 3012-c and/or 3012-d. Mr. Mazzone holds Permanent Certification in Biology 7-12. It is further recommended that Mr. Mazzone’s salary will be based on M12 Step 13 of the 2018-2019 Teacher Salary Schedule, prorated. Ms. Polikowski holds Permanent Certification as School District Administrator, and
  • Be it further RESOLVED: that the Board of Education approve the contract for the Director of Testing and Academics for the time period January 17, 2019 through June 30, 2023, and
  • Be it further RESOLVED: that Ms. Polikowski’s salary will be $105,000 for 12 months for the 2018-2019 school year effective January 17, 2019 and $107,100 for the 2019-2020 school year. As per contract, additional increases in salary will be negotiated on a yearly basis thereafter, and
  • Be it also RESOLVED: that Ms. Polikowski is hereby granted a leave of absence from her current position in the Elementary tenure area, for the period of January 17, 2019 through June 30, 2020. Should Ms. Polikowski’s appointment be terminated during or at the end of this leave of absence, she will have the right to return to an available position within the Elementary tenure area. (Ms. Polikowski is filling the vacancy created by Michelle Crisafulli.)

  • RESOLVED: that the Board of Education approve an overnight trip to Beverly High School, Beverly MA, for the JROTC Drill Team to compete in the Region One Sectional Drill Competition. The competition will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2019. The students will depart at 8 am on Friday, January 18 and return on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Transportation, lodging, and meals are funded by the USMC. There will be no cost to the District or the students. It is understood that due to world or local events beyond our control this trip may have to be canceled on short notice.

  • RESOLVED: that upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Vicma Ramos, the Board of Education approves the following part-time personnel for the aquatics programs for the 2018-2019 school year. Supervisors & Instructors will be compensated at the rate of $15.50 per hour and Lifeguards, Water Safety Instructor Aides and Pool Monitors will be compensated at the rate of $11.10 per hour, to be paid out of the Special Aid Fund, pending certification.
