Dr. Nellie Bush opened the meeting at 6 pm.

Public Comment :   

Brett Patrei – Spoke regarding not being appointed as Unpaid Varsity Softball Coach.  He asked that this decision be reconsidered.

Brenden Cetnar, Varsity Softball Coach – Spoke in Support of Brett Patre and asked that the decision to not appoint him as unpaid assistant coach be reconsidered.

Megan LaMont, student/varsity softball team member – Spoke in Support of Brett Patre and asked that the decision to not appoint him as unpaid assistant coach be reconsidered.

Kim LaMont, parent of varsity softball player – Spoke in Support of Brett Patre and asked that the decision to not appoint him as unpaid assistant coach be reconsidered.

The meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm and entered into executive session.  Executive session adjourned at 8:40 pm and re-entered regular session.  At 8:42 pm the Board re-entered executive session. Executive session adjourned at 9:14 pm and reentered regular session.  On the motion of Gavin Murdoch the meeting adjourned at 9:20 pm.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Enlarged City School District of the City of Amsterdam, New York will conduct a Public Hearing to explain the 2019-2020 Tentative Budget to be held on the 7th  of May 2018, at 5:00 PM in the Media Center of the Amsterdam High School, 140 Saratoga Ave., Amsterdam, New York.

NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that the Enlarged City School District of the City of Amsterdam, New York will conduct a public vote on the 2019-2020 budget on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 PM at the various polling places throughout the District.

Proposition #1 – That the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of the City of Amsterdam adopt the annual budget of the School District for the fiscal year 2019-2020 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District.

Proposition #2 Shall the Board of Education of the Greater Amsterdam School District be authorized to establish a reserve fund, to be known as the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, effective July 1, 2019, the purpose of which is to finance the cost of acquisition of school buses and vehicles, and commencing with the 2019-2020 school year and, at the discretion of the Board, in each of the next nine fiscal years, deposit into said Bus Purchase Reserve Fund the amount received from the State of New York as transportation aid, proceeds from the sale of used buses and such portion of the unallocated fund balance as determined by the Board of Education.  The ultimate amount of such Fund is $1,000,000.00 and the fund shall have a probable term of 10 years.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots may be applied for at the Office of the District Clerk on any business day between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the completed application must be received by the Clerk of the District no later than seven (7) days before the vote. If the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter, the completed application must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on May 20, 2019. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Clerk of the District not later than 5:00 PM on May 21, 2019.

A list of all persons whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote and on May 21, 2019, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, except Saturdays and Sundays.

AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to a rule adopted by the Board of Education in accordance with Sections 2035 and 2008 of the Education law, any referenda or propositions to amend the budget, or otherwise to be submitted for voting at said vote and election, must be filed with the Board of Education at the District Clerk’s Office on or before March 21, 2019 at 5:00 PM, prevailing time; must be typed or printed in the English language; must be directed to the Clerk of the School District; must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters or five (5%) percent of the qualified voters of the District who voted in the previous annual election of Board members, whichever is greater; and must state the name and residence of each signer. However, the School Board will not entertain or place before the voters any proposition if its purpose is beyond the power of the voters or is illegal, or where required by statute any proposition requiring the expenditure of moneys which fails to include specific appropriations for all such expenditures required by the proposition.

WHEREAS, the Enlarged City School District Of The City Of Amsterdam, New York, has received an offer to purchase real property of the school district, namely 40 Henrietta Blvd., City of Amsterdam, County of Montgomery, containing approximately 20.4 +- acres of land and improvements, and

WHEREAS, the District has determined that the said real property is not needed for school district purposes, and

WHEREAS, the property has been appraised by a qualified appraiser of real property, and

WHEREAS, the school district determines that it is in the best interest of the district to sell the said real property, it is

NOW THEREFORE  

RESOLVED that Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District Of The City Of Amsterdam, New York, hereby authorizes the President of the Board of Education to sign a contract to sell the said real property and all reasonable necessary documents needed to transfer the said real property to the purchaser, namely: Thousand Acre Associates, LLC, upon such terms and conditions as set forth in the written contract between the parties, for the sum of $224,000.00 as may be approved by the President of the Board of Education and School Attorney, and be it further

RESOLVED that this contract shall be contingent upon the approval of the voters of the district authorizing such sale and in the event that the voters do not approve of the sale, then the  contract as well as this resolution shall be deemed null and void and of no further effect.
