Congratulations to Parker McHeard, a cadet in Amsterdam High School’s Marine Corps Junior Officer Training Cadet Program (MCJROTC), who was selected to attend the Four Star Leadership Camp with General Tommy Franks. McHeard was chosen out of hundreds of applicants and just 70 internationally to attend the $4,000 camp at no cost to him. The camp will take place in Oklahoma City, OK, July 10-14. McHeard was screened three times before being selected. The screening consisted of physical ability, community service involvement, written essay based on leadership experiences, and a verbal interview for quality of character. He is the first to be selected from Amsterdam to attend.
