Dear GASD parent/guardian or staff,

The district learned on Sunday, Nov.29 that a member of the Lynch Literacy Academy community has tested positive for COVID-19. The infected person traveled during the holiday break but tested negative before departing. Upon returning to New York State, however, the person then tested COVID-19 positive. This testing is part of the New York State Department of Health’s Travel Advisory requirements.

The Montgomery County Department of Health is aware of the situation, notified our school district and the person is now under quarantine. No local tracing is necessary in this case. 

Please note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.
