The Greater Amsterdam School District announces the following administrative and staff changes for the 2022-23 school year.
Amsterdam High School
AnneMarie Giles became Amsterdam High School’s new Principal on July 1. Giles is a 1987 graduate of Amsterdam High School and had been an Assistant Principal there since January 2019. Read more about her appointment.
Assistant Principal Al Mattice has left the district to assume a new position in the Ballston Spa Central School District. This leaves two Assistant Principal openings at the school. Mike Gennett, Assistant Principal at Lynch Literacy Academy, is moving to the high school to fill one of those openings. The district is currently advertising to fill the other open AHS Assistant Principal position.
Lynch Literacy Academy
Bryan Wood, who served as Interim Principal at Amsterdam High School during a large portion of the 2021-22 school year, is coming back in August as Interim Principal at Lynch Literacy Academy. Current Principal Dr. Matthew Lewis is stepping down from that post in mid-August. The district is currently advertising to fill the LLA Assistant Principal vacancy created by Gennett’s move to the high school.
R.J. McNulty Academy/Tecler Elementary School
Tina O’Brien began on July 1 as the new Principal of R.J. McNulty Academy. O’Brien had served as Assistant Principal at Tecler Elementary School since 2019 and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education. Read more about her appointment. Joseph Rajczak is staying on for a second year as Interim Assistant Principal at McNulty. Replacing O’Brien as Assistant Principal at Tecler will be Robert Hisert. Hisert is a longtime Physical Education teacher at Marie Curie Institute.
Family Advocate
The district has created a new Family Advocate position for the current school year. Mianna Magliocca will be a central point of contact for parents and residents with questions about district resources and services, and support them in obtaining what they need. Read more about this
