The Greater Amsterdam School District (GASD) Board of Education announced today the appointment of Eric Romano as Building Principal for Raphael J. McNulty Academy for International Studies and Literacy Magnet School.
Romano will continue his career with the district after two years of serving as an assistant principal at Marie Curie Institute of Engineering and Communications. In his role, he provided direct support to the principal, managing day-to-day operations, working with parents, and helping teachers further their understanding of curriculum and resources. Prior to his position at GASD, Romano served as a special education teacher at Fonda Fultonville Central School District.
“We are pleased to welcome Eric as Building Principal for McNulty,” said Dr. Nellie Bush, Board of Education president. “In the time he has been in the district, he has already been successful building relationships and developing a deep appreciation and respect for the community that we serve. Additionally, his background in special education and his experience working with students, families, and staff make him an ideal fit for the position.”
Romano earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and his Master of Science Degree in Special Education from the State University of New York at Oswego. He will begin his assignment on July 1 and will replace the current Building Principal Todd Giagni.
“I am honored to have been selected by the Board of Education to serve as Building Principal,” Romano said. “I am eager to work with our families as we move ahead continuing the work to support our students.”
