DiCaprio comes to GASD with nearly two decades of finance and management experience – most recently serving as State Aid Specialist for Questar III BOCES.  In her role, she provided direct support to school business officials and treasurers to more than 650 districts and BOCES across New York State. Prior to her position at Questar, DiCaprio served as District Treasurer for Scotia-Glenville Central School District for over ten years.

“We are pleased to welcome Colleen to the district’s administrative team,” said Dr. Nellie Bush, Board of Education President. “She brings both comprehensive leadership skills and extensive knowledge in various reporting, accounting and compliance requirements. Additionally, her background and familiarity with laws, regulations and policies related to school district finances makes her an ideal choice as we continue to support the growth of our students while maintaining fiscal responsibility.”

DiCaprio is an active member of the Amsterdam Community having held the PTA president and treasurer positions for Barkley Elementary and Lynch Middle Schools while her children attended.  Additionally, she coached soccer for Amsterdam youth soccer leagues and has been involved in many fundraising activities and events that supported the district.

“I am honored to have been selected by the Board of Education to serve as School Business Official,” DiCaprio said. “The district has made tremendous strides to support individual learning needs over the last several years and I look forward to working alongside the talented administration and staff to continue that work.”

DiCaprio earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and continues to enhance her education through various professional development opportunities.  She will begin her assignment on June 24 and will replace the current School Business Official Kim Brumley. Brumley is slated to retire, July 5.
