The Greater Amsterdam School District has announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
The induction ceremony will take place Friday, September 23 at the Perthshire on Route 30, North Amsterdam. There will be a reception hour at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony. Cost for the event is $50 per person, and $45 for current Hall of Fame members and members of this year’s Legacy Team.

2022 Academic Wing inductees
Cynci (Hawkins) Peterson (Class of 1984) Hawkins Peterson started a humanitarian organization named Hope Ventures. Hope Venture is a non-profit organization existing to bring help and hope to people around the world through compassion-based projects.
Jessica ( Capogna) Collins ( Class of 1989) Copagna Collins is an Emmy Award winning actress, a former Miss New York Teen USA and first runner-up Miss Teen USA. She is a published food writer for numerous food magazines.
Mary Anne Krupsak( Class of 1949) Krupsak is a former member of NYS Assembly and Senate and served as Lieutenant Governor.
Patricia Valiante (Class of 1973) Valiante spent 30 years as Amsterdam High School Music Teacher and Chorus Director.
2022 Athletic Wing inductees
Izaiah Brown (Class of 2015) Brown isone of most decorated sprinters in Section 2 history. He was the winner of three state and two federation championships, as well as the anchor of federation champion relay team.
Kyle Cotugno (Class of 1980) When Cotugno graduated, he held nineschool swimming records, some lasting 30 years.
Dave Santos (Class of 1959) Santos was captain of the 1958-59 basketball team. He was the leading scorer for Amsterdam and was also top scorer in the Class A League. At the time of his graduation, Santos was Amsterdam’s all- time scorer.
Roger Bowman (Class of 1945) Bowman spent 15 years in professional baseball. Most of that time was spent in the minor leagues where he won 131 games. He spent parts of five seasons in the major leagues with the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates appearing in 50 major league games.
T.J. Sumigray (Class of 2008) Simigray excelled in both baseball and golf. At age 17, he was the youngest city golf champion in Amsterdam history. In 2007 he was NYS Junior Golf Association winner. He also has six lifetime holes in one.
