The Greater Amsterdam School District Board of Education recently appointed Steve Nolan as the new coordinator of physical education, health and athletics. He will be replacing interim Rob Noto.
Nolan currently serves as an assistant principal and the K-12 Director of Physical Education and Athletics for the Carthage Central School District. Prior to that, he served as an assistant principal, athletic director and physical education director for the Warrensburg Central School District. He began his education career in 1987 as an adapted physical education coordinator in the Queensbury Union Free School District.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the kids and the community, and seeing what I can bring from the experiences I’ve had in other districts,” Nolan said.
Nolan earned a master’s in education with a focus on sport science and adapted physical education from Castleton University in Vermont. He also earned a bachelor’s in education and physical education from the State University of New York at Cortland, and received his School Administrator and Supervisor certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
The Amsterdam Board of Education appointed Nolan to the position during its meeting on Nov. 16. His first day in the district is Dec. 22.
