GASD seeking Board of Education member

The Greater Amsterdam Board of Education is looking for an individual interested in serving on the board following the August 18th resignation of member Deana Mancini.

The board is looking to appoint someone to fill Mancini’s unexpired term, and bring the number of school board members back to seven. The appointed individual would be asked to serve until the next School board election on May 17, 2022. The seat, by law, is then required to go up for election on May, 17 2022. The winner of the election would fill the final year of Mancini’s term.

To be eligible to serve on the Board of Education an individual must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a qualified voter in the school district and able to read and write. He or she must also be a resident of the school district continuously for 30 days. A school board member is a voluntary position in New York State.
