Oct. 3, 2018
As a trial period, the Greater Amsterdam School District will collect tax payments for the second installment of the 2018-19 school year. District Treasurer Ann Phelps will collect approved forms of payment on the following times and dates:
- Time: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Date: Monday, Oct. 22 to Wednesday, Oct. 24
- Place: District Office- 140 Saratoga Ave., Amsterdam
The second installment of tax payments is due Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. This tax collection is an optional service. Taxpayers may continue to pay taxes by mail or online.
Approved forms of payment
Taxpayers may bring with them a completed and signed personal check, money order, bank check or certified check made payable to the Greater Amsterdam School District. No cash will be accepted.
While a receipt acknowledging a check and tax stub(s) were received will be provided to the taxpayer, it will not include the amount paid. NERIC, which processes all payments, will issue those receipts by mail.
If the treasurer is absent during the collection dates, taxes will not be collected.
How to enter the District Office
All taxpayers must use the District Office entrance, which can be found either by using the small parking lot on Miami Avenue, or by following the long sidewalk toward the rock climbing tower. All taxpayers must sign in at reception and wait for the treasurer.
As a reminder, the district does not collect tax payments at any other point during the year. At the completion of this trial period, school leaders will analyze whether to continue this service. Learn more about how to make online tax payments here.
