Yesterday afternoon, a car accident occurred in Schoharie that resulted in the death of an employee of the Greater Amsterdam School District. The employee’s identity is being withheld until family members have been notified.

The Red Cross and State Police have arranged an area at Lynch Literacy Academy, 55 Brandt Place, for families of victims to come for support on Sunday, Oct. 7 until 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8.
Grief counselors and school and district crisis teams are preparing for students and staff to return to school Tuesday. More information will be provided when it is available.
State Police set up a special hotline for the families of people who fear a loved one died in the crash. Family members are encouraged to call the State Police at 1-877-672-4911.
Another resource available to families is the St. Mary’s Healthcare Behavioral Health Crisis Hotline, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contact them by calling 518-842-9111.
