i-Ready assessments to be completed at home week of Sept. 21

Dear GASD Parents & Guardians,

The 2020–2021 school year will be different in many ways. One such way is that we’ll be asking our students in grades 1-8 to take the initial i-Ready Diagnostic at home. It is not a decision we’ve taken lightly, but after careful consideration, we have decided it is the best way to get information about our students in a safe way— information that will be critical to help inform our instruction and serve our students well. To do this successfully, we need your help.

What Is i-Ready?

i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your child’s teacher(s) determine your child’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year.

i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Instruction. The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your child can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your child engaged as they learn.

The diagnostic is scheduled to begin the week of September 21

Attached you will find information pertaining to the assessment along with your child’s schedule for taking the diagnostic.(What Is i-Ready English Spanish)

Also here are friendly pointers for before, during & after the assessment. (Fridge Tips: English Spanish) Your job is to support your child with the diagnostic….but not do the work for him/her.

Check the website regularly for updates. Your child’s teacher will be providing specifics regarding the testing protocols and will be online to assist your child with the test.

Thank you as always for your support! With your help we will start this unprecedented year with the data we need to best serve your child.
