Did you know childhood experiences like emotional neglect, parental separation or being homeless can increase the risk of adolescent pregnancy, depression and heart disease?
Those “Adverse Childhood Experiences,” or ACES, will be the topic of conversation for a collaborative event “Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences,” sponsored by Centro Civico and hosted by the Greater Amsterdam School District.
The event, which will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14 at Amsterdam High School, will center on the hour-long film “Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope,” followed by a group discussion.
As the school district works to become a trauma-informed community, we encourage you to participate in this event and learn how resilience can bring back health and hope.
