Congratulations to Leslie Pozarycki, who received a Certificate of Recognition from the GASD Board of Education in February for performing a heroic deed. The lunch aide was approached by a sixth grader who was choking on food in the cafeteria at Lynch Literacy Academy on Feb. 14. Pozarycki took immediate charge, performing the Heimlich maneuver on the middle schooler several times and saving his life. “Ms. Pozarycki’s heroic actions will be something that I will always remember,” said LLA Assistant Principal Mike Gennett. “I will be forever grateful for her saving a child’s life in LLA’s cafeteria.” The award was presented to Pozarycki by Gennett, Board of Education President Dr. Nellie Bush, and Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Raymond Colucciello.
