Kathy Hans – Spoke in support of the GASD partnering with the Albany/Schenectady/Niskayuna Hockey Association.

Michael Cinquanti – making plaque for GASD history of Valedictorian & Salutatorian to be placed in AHS Hall of Fame. Cost is $660. Requesting BOE to pay half.

Kathy Velasco – Spoke in support of the GASD partnering with the Albany/Schenectady/Niskayuna Hockey Association.

The meeting adjourned at 7:56 pm and entered into executive session.  Executive session adjourned at 9:52 pm and reentered regular session. On the motion of Gavin Murdoch the meeting adjourned at 9:53 pm.

A RESOLUTION in relation to the canvass of the returns of the school election districts for the Annual School Board Election held on May 21, 2019.

WHEREAS:   the Board of Education is required, pursuant to Section 2610 of the Education Law, to examine and tabulate the statements of the results of the Annual School Board Election in the four (4) school election districts, be it therefore

RESOLVED:  that the Board of Education of the Enlarged City School District of the Cityof Amsterdam, New York, tabulation votes reported at the Annual School Board Election held on May 21, 2019 truly states the returns as made by the inspectors of the election and determines the election of: John Bottisti, and JoMarie DiTata as members of the Board of Education for a term of three (3) years beginning July 1, 2019,  and Curtis Peninger being the candidate with the third highest vote count, will complete the two (2) year unexpired term created by the resignation of Jacqueline Marciniak, as a member of the Board of Education beginning July 1, 2019 as provided by said Education Law.

PROPOSITION #1    That the proposed budget of expenditures of the Enlarged City School District of the City of Amsterdam for the 2019-2020 school year in the amount of $77,202,687.00, and for the purposes shown in the statement of estimated expenditures adopted by the Board of Education, after first deducting the monies available from State Aid and other sources as provided by law, be and the same hereby is approved and the amount thereof shall be raised by a levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the school district.      PASSED  

PROPOSITION #2  Shall the Board of Education of the Greater Amsterdam School District be authorized to establish a reserve fund, to be known as the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, effective July 1, 2019, the purpose of which is to finance the cost of acquisition of school buses and vehicles, and commencing with the 2019-2020 school year and, at the discretion of the Board, in each of the next nine fiscal years, deposit into said Bus Purchase Reserve Fund the amount received from the State of New York as transportation aid, proceeds from the sale of used buses and such portion of the unallocated fund balance as determined by the Board of Education.  The ultimate amount of such Fund is $1,000,000.00 and the fund shall have a probable term of 10 years. RESOLVED: that the Board of Education waives the building use fee as outlined in the School Facilities regulation 1505R for the Dance Recital and Rehearsal produced by the Amster-Dance. Whereas, the Amster-Dance proceeds are used to assist not-for-profit agencies and programs to meet the needs of our community. There shall be no waiver of any charges for custodians, supervision or other employees assigned by the School District for this event.

RESOLVED: that upon the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Raymond Colucciello, the Board of Education appoints Michael Gennett to a temporary appointment as Interim Secondary Assistant Principal commencing July 1, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020. Mr. Gennett holds Internship Certification in School Building Leader (SBL). It is further recommended that Mr. Gennett’s salary will be $83,658.00 for 11 months. This position is funded through the General Fund.

(Mr. Gennett will be filling the vacancy created by Neil Estrada at LLA.)

BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that Mr. Gennett is hereby granted a leave of absence from his current position in the Physical Education tenure area, for the period through June 30, 2020 to coincide with his temporary appointment as Secondary Assistant Principal. Should Mr. Gennett’s temporary appointment be terminated during or at the end of this leave of absence, he shall have the right to return to a position within the Physical Education tenure area.
