Amsterdam High School senior track athlete Garrett McHeard broke the school indoor track shot put throwing record on Saturday, Dec. 4.  Competing at the Union College Fieldhouse, the team captain launched the shot 44′ 09″… besting the previous record by more than 2 feet. McHeard, a three-sport athlete at AHS, and over 50 of his teammates were enthusiastically participating in the team’s first indoor track competition in over 600 days. Garrett will look to improve on the record throughout the season. The previous record was held by 2021 graduate James Shatas – a former teammate of McHeard.
