McHeard signs letter of intent for track and field at UConn

Congratulations to Amsterdam High School senior Garrett McHeard, who signed a letter of intent Thursday (December 16) to attend the University of Connecticut and participate on the Track and Field team as a thrower. A signing ceremony was held in the Amsterdam High School cafeteria with his coaches, family and friends by his side.

McHeard holds the AHS Indoor track shot put record of 44’09”. In outdoor track his personal bests include:

  • Shot put 49’03.25″
  • Discus 134’09”

He signed his letter of intent with his father (Kent), mother (Colleen) and brother Parker looking on.
