McNulty Academy celebrates Unity Day against bullying

students hang an orange paper chain together

McNulty Academy celebrated Unity Day today, October 20. Unity Day is a day where students and staff wore and shared orange to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Instead, they support kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Students hung orange decorations at the school and a paper chain in the cafeteria. The chain represented Project Connect. The message with Project Connect is that when we work together to make a difference we are stronger. It is a powerful statement about uniting against bullying. Every student in the building wrote or drew something on a piece of orange paper. Everyone was asked to write something they can do to prevent bullying and to be kind to others or they wrote a quality about themselves that makes them unique. The younger students drew a picture. Everyone wrote their name on the paper. The paper chain is being connected and hung up in the cafeteria to represent the unity in the school.
