  • A Public Hearing was held for the purpose of reviewing the draft of the District Wide Safety Plan.
  • Dr. Nellie Bush, opened the meeting at 6:00 pm.
  • Public Comment: Mark Kowalczyk (district parent) – Commented on the draft of the District Wide Safety Plan.
  • The meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm and entered into executive session.  Executive session adjourned at 9:28 pm and reentered regular session.

  • NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots may be applied for at the Office of the District Clerk on any business day between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the completed application must be received by the Clerk of the District no later than seven (7) days before the vote. If the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter, the completed application must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on November 18, 2019. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Clerk of the District not later than 5:00 PM on November 19, 2019.
  • A list of all persons whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five days prior to the day of the vote and on November 19, 2019, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, except Saturdays and Sundays.
  • AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to a rule adopted by the Board of Education in accordance with Sections 2035 and 2008 of the Education law, any referenda or propositions to amend the budget, or otherwise to be submitted for voting at said vote and election, must be filed with the Board of Education at the District Clerk’s Office on or before October 21, 2019 at 5:00 PM, prevailing time; must be typed or printed in the English language; must be directed to the Clerk of the School District; must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters or five (5%) percent of the qualified voters of the District who voted in the previous annual election of Board members, whichever is greater; and must state the name and residence of each signer. However, the School Board will not entertain or place before the voters any proposition if its purpose is beyond the power of the voters or is illegal, or where required by statute any proposition requiring the expenditure of moneys which fails to include specific appropriations for all such expenditures required by the proposition.

  • RESOLVED:    that the Board of Education approve an overnight trip for two days to Boston Massachusetts, Friday, May 1, 2019 through Saturday, May 2, 2019 for Amsterdam High School Chorus.  The students will perform in the Big Apple Classic Music Festival at the The College of Staten Island.  There is no cost to the district. It is understood that due to world or local events beyond our control this trip may have to be cancelled on short notice and that refund of money may not be possible.

  • RESOLVED:  that the Board of Education authorizes Dr. Raymond Colucciello, Interim Superintendent of Schools to sign the contract with Centro Civico to provide GASD with a Parent and Community Liaison for Homeless students in the amount of $10,000. Centro Civico shall provide the District with a certificate of insurance naming the District as an additional insured, with the general liability limits of at least $1,000,000 per person and $2,000,000 aggregate. The contract will run from September 19, 2019 to August 31, 2020 funded through the Title I grant, pending attorney approval.
