Police have arrested a juvenile for allegedly making threats against GASD schools on social media this morning. The teen, a GASD student, will be charged with a felony, police said.
“We want to thank the Montgomery County Sheriffs and Amsterdam Police Department for their swift and thorough action in investigating this matter and keeping our students and staff safe,” said GASD Superintendent Richard Ruberti. “The threat was not credible, but nevertheless, there are consequences for making such threats. Parents should reinforce this message with their children.”
The district was notified of the threat about 6 a.m. this morning and school was in session as police investigated the matter. There was extra police presence at the buildings all day.
