Vellon named Offense Player of the Year and other AHS 2021 football honors

Section II Class A football has announced its 2021 Fall All-Stars. Jhai Vellon (Jr, Quarterback for the Amsterdam High School Rams) was named Offensive Player of the Year for all of Class A. Vellon was 94-139 with 1,344 yards passing, 15 touchdowns, and a completion percentage of 67.6%. He ended the season with a Quarterback Rating of 116.7. He also rushed for 727 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Other Amsterdam Varsity Players receiving Class A Capital Division All League honors are:

  • Xavier Acevedo (Sr) – 1st Team Wide Receiver
  • Garrett McHeard (Sr) – 1st Team Running Back
  • Nicholas Covey (Sr) – 1st Team Kicker
  • Christian Robinson (Sr) – 1st Team Defensive End
  • Tyrell Douglas (Sr) – 1st Team Defensive Back
  • Ceasar Thompson (Jr) – 1st Team All Purpose Player
