The Greater Amsterdam School District welcomes Thomas Verret as the new Assistant Principal at McNulty Academy. Verret replaced Joseph Rajczak on June 1.
He comes to GASD from the Schenectady City School District where he had been an Assistant Principal at Schenectady High School since April 2021 and helped develop that school district’s Freshman Academy. Prior to that he was an Administrative Intern at Mont Pleasant Middle School and an elementary and middle school teacher in Schenectady City Schools for five years.
Verret earned a bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education from the College of Saint Rose, a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from Marist College, and an Advanced Certificate in School Building Leadership from Niagara University.
Verret has friends and relatives in the Amsterdam area and said he feels like he’s “coming home” returning to an elementary school setting. “Amsterdam is a great place to be,” Verret said. “Everyone at McNulty has been so friendly and welcoming.”
