The Greater Amsterdam School District Select Chorus and ROTC participated in the community 9/11 Memorial Service at Riverlink Park on Thursday, Sept. 11.
Students performed the National Anthem as part of the ceremony, which honored the victims of Sept. 11, 2001. The event brought together community members, local officials, and organizations in remembrance of the lives lost and in recognition of the ongoing service of first responders and military personnel.
The annual observance served as a reminder of the importance of unity, reflection and shared commitment to honoring the past while strengthening community bonds. By performing at the memorial, students were able to contribute to that message and take part in a significant moment of collective remembrance.
Their participation also highlighted the district’s close connection with the Amsterdam community. Events such as the 9/11 memorial provide opportunities for students and staff to join with local partners in recognizing shared values of service, resilience and civic responsibility.
The Greater Amsterdam School District extends its thanks to the organizers of the memorial service for including its students in the program and providing them with the opportunity to participate in this day of unity and remembrance.
