Earlier this month, a group of English as a New Language (ENL) students from the Guilderland Central School District visited Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont. The students participated in apple picking while learning about New York State agriculture and its traditions.
Following their time at the farm, the group hiked the Indian Ladder Trail at Thacher State Park. During the hike, they engaged with various subjects, including New York State history, geology, paleontology, and environmental science.
This trip provided the students with a hands-on learning experience that connected them to local history and the natural environment. The visit aimed to enhance their understanding of New York’s agricultural practices and geological features.
