Amsterdam High School junior Rocco Natale Jr., Class of 2027, has made New York State football history after setting the NYS single-season record with 108 receptions, a milestone that also placed him third in the nation through 10 weeks.
During his record-breaking junior season, Natale totaled 1,112 receiving yards, averaged 10.3 yards per reception, recorded a long reception of 87 yards, and scored 11 touchdowns. He also recorded 19 receptions in a single game against Troy, the second-highest single-game total in New York State history.
Natale continues to climb the record books at both the state and local levels. He currently ranks sixth all-time in New York State for career receptions with 185, just 48 receptions shy of the state career record. At Amsterdam High School, he holds career records for receptions (185) and receiving yards (2,231) and ranks 18th all-time statewide in receiving yards.
“Considering all the talented football players that came out of Amsterdam, I am beyond grateful for being an all-time NYS football record holder,” Natale said. “Consistent hard work, great coaching, exceptional teammates and strong family support have all contributed to my success. It was a great feeling realizing this accomplishment was a possibility. It truly motivated me to work even harder. Thank you and I am looking forward to next season!”
“We are incredibly proud of Rocco for his historic achievement,” said Amsterdam Offensive Coordinator Joshua Hodge. “Setting the New York State single-season record with 108 receptions is a monumental feat that is a direct testament to his relentless work ethic and dedication. We were blessed to have one of the most exciting and dominant connections in the state with the QB-WR duo of Luis Tirado and Roc. We are immensely proud of everything Roc has accomplished and the positive impact he has had in the Amsterdam community. We eagerly look forward to witnessing his future success and further accomplishments.”
Natale’s record-setting junior year marks another major milestone for Amsterdam High School football.
