Multicultural celebration

Amsterdam High School hosted its Multicultural Celebration earlier this month, welcoming faculty, staff, students and families for an evening focused on culture, education and community engagement.

Attendees sampled food representing countries and cultures from around the world while exploring informational displays that highlighted traditions, history and heritage. The event also featured music, interactive activities and games, including Dominos, Tejo (corn hole), Disney-themed coloring, beaded bracelet making and Diwali tattoos.

Principal Molly Schaefer said the event reflected the district’s commitment to inclusivity and community connection.

“Our Multicultural Celebration is an opportunity to honor the diverse backgrounds of our students and families while creating a space where everyone feels seen, valued and connected,” Schaefer said. “It was wonderful to see our community come together to learn from one another and celebrate what makes us unique.”

Donations from Stewart’s, Market 32 and Walmart supported the event.

District officials said the celebration continues to grow each year and remains an important opportunity for students and families to share their cultures with the broader school community.
