Three Amsterdam High School wrestlers have qualified for the New York State Championships and will compete at MVP Arena on Feb. 27-28.
Carlos Rivera Russe earned a second-place finish in his weight class to secure his spot at the state tournament. His performance advanced him through a competitive bracket and positioned him among the top wrestlers in his division.
Mason Early reached a major milestone during the sectional tournament, earning his 100th career victory while capturing the Section 2 Division 1 championship title. With the win, Early also qualified for the state championships.
Breyana Montalvo finished second in the 120-pound weight class to advance to the Girls State Wrestling Championship. Her placement secured her opportunity to compete against top wrestlers from across New York.
The three student-athletes will represent Amsterdam High School on the state stage as they compete against the best wrestlers in New York.
