2026-2029 Instructional Technology Plan
The Greater Amsterdam School District’s 2026-2029 Instructional Technology Plan guides the district’s use of technology to support teaching, learning, student achievement and equitable access to educational opportunities.
The plan covers July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029, and has been approved by the New York State Education Department.

District Mission
The Greater Amsterdam School District believes that students of all ages can and should learn. We believe that the purpose of our schools is to educate the whole child. To that end, we recognize and promote the opportunities for increased learning that come from:

Technology Vision Statement
The Greater Amsterdam School District integrates technology as building inclusive pathways for discovery, equity and growth. Our digital landscape is designed to support the academic and emotional education of the whole child, providing every student with a personalized platform for self-expression and excellence.
Student Technology Access
At the start of the 2026-27 school year, the Greater Amsterdam School District will provide a dedicated mobile device for every student in all grade levels.
Goal Attainment
As part of the 2026-2029 Instructional Technology Plan, the district evaluated its progress across five statewide technology goal areas. The district reported that it has fully met each of the following goals.

The district has identified three instructional technology goals focused on improving academic performance during the 2026-2029 planning cycle.
NYSED Initiative Alignment
The Greater Amsterdam School District’s use of instructional technology supports a comprehensive and sustained effort to improve student performance and academic standards while providing equitable learning opportunities.
24/7 Personalized Growth Through Adaptive Learning
Adaptive platforms, including learning management system-integrated tools and AI-driven programs, are embedded into daily instruction rather than being limited to intervention periods. Teachers assign personalized pathways based on student readiness, and systems adjust content dynamically.
Real-Time Intervention Through Digital Data
Data systems, including assessment tools, learning management system analytics and student information system integration, are used continuously rather than only during benchmark periods.
Technology integration includes:
Digitally administered universal screeners
Real-time alerts for students who may need additional support
Data dashboards accessible to teachers, specialists and administrators, including EduClimber
High-Level Creative Tools to Promote Engagement
Creative technology tools are embedded into core instruction rather than treated as supplemental activities.
Technology integration includes:
Interactive demonstrations using multimedia tools
Cross-curricular digital activities
Integration into grading rubrics and standards
Video creation
Coding
Design
Simulations
Digital storytelling
Teachers design assignments that require students to create rather than only consume information and use rubrics aligned with creativity, communication and critical thinking.
Progress is measured through:
Variety and frequency of tools used
Student engagement indicators, including completion rates and participation
Student choice in demonstrating understanding
Virtual Instruction
Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, one or more Greater Amsterdam School District students will attend a full-time virtual instruction program operated by a BOCES or another public school district.
Administrative Management and Technology Support
The district maintains staffing to provide technology leadership, instructional support and technical support.
District technology leadership: 1.0 district-employed full-time equivalent (FTE)
Instructional support: 1.0 district-employed FTE
Technical support: 2.0 district-employed FTE and 3.0 FTE contracted through a vendor or BOCES
Total: 4.0 district-employed FTE and 3.0 contracted FTE
The district also provides for the loan of instructional computer hardware to students legally attending nonpublic schools pursuant to New York State Education Law, Section 754.
