Mission Statement

The mission of the Greater Amsterdam School District Hall of Fame is to honor individuals who have graduated from Amsterdam High School, as well as non-graduates who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions to the school district, either academically or athletically.

Nomination criteria

To be eligible for nomination to either the academic or athletic wing of the Greater Amsterdam School District Hall of Fame, a nominee must have graduated from Amsterdam High School or retired from the school district at least five years prior to the nomination.

Nomination forms for both the academic and athletic wings are available digitally on the Greater Amsterdam School District website (www.gasd.org) and can be submitted online. Hard copies of the nomination forms are also available at the Amsterdam High School Athletic Office, the Central Administration Office, and the Amsterdam Free Library.

Nomination forms will be made available on or around February 1st each year. Once nominated, individuals will remain under consideration for three years. If a nominee is not selected for induction within three years of their initial nomination, they may be resubmitted to the committee for another three-year eligibility period provided they are nominated again. Should the nominee not be inducted during this second eligibility period, they will no longer be considered for induction. The two three-year eligibility periods do not need to be consecutive.

Nominees nominated by the general public are required to submit one additional letter of recommendation. Committee nominations do not require the additional letter.
