Service Project LMS

Students at Lynch Middle School in the Greater Amsterdam School District completed a community service project on March 20 as part of an English language arts unit focused on the bond between people and animals.

Students in Mrs. Mittler, Mrs. Malpass and Mrs. Sawitzki’s fifth period classes assembled “Welcome Home” bags for families adopting or rescuing pets. The project served as a real-world connection to the texts students have been studying.

Each bag included items such as training treats and toys, along with letters written by students. In their letters, students congratulated families and shared information about the benefits people and animals gain from their relationships.

The bags will be donated to local animal shelters and distributed to families when they adopt a pet.

The project, titled “Who Rescued Who?,” allowed students to apply their learning while supporting the community.
